Can you think of the moment that inspired you to start your career?

My career in skincare started quite organically. I was working in hotels. I was overseeing spas and I wanted to launch a line that would unify the group spas. So, I wanted something that was natural but not naïve and that was really backed by science.

I wanted something that was Italian as an Italian and given the SPARS are predominately in Italy, and I wanted something that was formulated by a doctor and that had sustainability at its heart, and that’s kind of how I got into it, and it just developed from that idea and that starting point.

What is one thing you wish you would have known before beginning your career?

I don’t think there’s one thing I wish I could have known. I got very good insight into business from working for my father for almost nine years. He allowed me to see all aspects of his business. I worked in HR and learning and development. I worked in operations. I helped with branding, and I got to sit in on the executive committees.

So, I quickly understood that businesses are tough, so I don’t think I went into it naively, and I think you learn by doing in the end. It’s not something that there’s one thing I wish I’d known before. I think you learn by your mistakes and kind of taking that leap.

What label in your life are you most proud of? Why?

I think the label I’m most proud of is definitely being an entrepreneur. My grandfather was a successful entrepreneur. My father then also set up his own business. I think it’s a little bit in my glove, but I always wanted to be an entrepreneur from a very young age.

I was always finding ways to make money, be it picking pine nuts and cracking them and selling them on the street in Tuscany all summer when I was really young, or building kind of school projects that would be like how to run a hotel, or kind of creating businesses within my father’s business before I set off on my own.

What is the best advice you have ever received?

The best advice I’ve ever received is probably from my father or he showed me by doing. He showed me the business world is incredibly tough and competitive and you’re never really going to succeed without giving it 110 percent and giving it your all.

What is the best advice you have to give?

The best advice I’d probably give in business is build a team around you that compliments your own skill set and try and meet as many people in the industry you’re in as possible and always try to learn from as many people as possible.

When in life do you feel the most at peace?

I think when I travel and you get to where you’re going. You put your bags down and kind of jump on the bed and you have nothing to do for the rest of that day except maybe make a coffee or get something to eat. In that I am at peace.

When do you feel the most alive?

The moment I wake up. The second I’m conscious everything kicks in and it reminds me that I got to go and do this.

What is something you want to do, but haven’t done yet?

To be completely honest, to get completely comfortable where I am in my career. Being able to hit the goals that I want to hit and be secure, and you know, in a happy place without stress and worrying about all the different projects going on, but at the same time, those are the things that give me joy as well. So, I don’t know. I don’t know what that looks like yet.

Something in the world you hope to see change in your lifetime?

I hope that as humans in this experience can finally see empathy and be the way I think we are supposed to be towards each other. Everything seems very divided and polarized from each other. I would love to see that one day. I feel like it’s far away, but...is that world peace?

When in life do you feel the most at peace?

I feel the most at peace probably on a Sunday when I finally get to catch up on my emails and I am probably watching some football in the background or some really silly show, and yeah, getting through that sort of sets me up for the week to come.

When do you feel the most alive?

I feel the most alive or felt the most alive probably watching my football team win a cup, or Italy win the Euros. I shouldn’t say that because I know they beat the English, but yeah, definitely watching Italy winning the Euros last summer was pretty high up there.

What is something you want to do, but haven’t done yet?

I think there’s so many things I’d like to do that I haven’t done yet. There’s lots of places I’d love to travel to where I haven’t been yet. Bhutan is definitely on my bucket list. I’d like to go to Japan. Lots of places I’d like to travel to.

Something in the world you hope to see change in your lifetime?

In my lifetime, I’d love to see equal pay and opportunities for women. Equal care such as parental leave. Yeah. Those would be some big things that would be great to see changed.

Something that makes you optimistic for the future?

I think something that makes me optimistic for the future is the fact that the call for sustainability is going to be louder than ever and it’s great to see younger generations leading the charge.
