No one captured the 1960s L.A. art scene better than photographer Marvin Silver. Silver famously photographed the likes of Robert Irwin, Wallace Berman and Billy Al Bengston before they were considered part of the “Cool School.” He shot these artists in their elements, whether that was in the studio with their art, tinkering with motorcycles or at home with their families. In this way, we get an introspective look into the lives of these great artists, seeing their inspirations that would simultaneously inspire Silver to create his own art.
